It cannot be argued that nurses are one of the most important people in this planet. They are significant because they help doctors heal the sick, rehabilitate patient to normalcy, and help prevent medical complications from escalating from bad to worst. A lot of salutations were given to nurses in particular through prose and poetry and some nurses were immortalised in books and films. The reason for high regards to these people is not about knowing how to properly use nurse supplies and equipment but rather on the personal traits and characteristics these people possess that are really worthy of emulating. What are these?
No Bias and Prejudice
Nurses do not see labels or categories in each patient that they attend to and take care of. What they always see is that these are people who need help and return to their normal state of health and well-being. For them, all patients are equal regardless of sex, wealth, status, religion, and culture. It helps that all people emulate these characteristics in order for people to live in peace and harmony; no wars and no quarrel. With that, people will care for each other regardless if the person is fat and ugly, black or white, dumb and moronic.
Rationality over Emotion
As a nurse, he or she is already trained from day one of acquiring the degree, that the nurse should not be emotionally involved with the patient. It is difficult to do but somehow almost all of the nurses that come and go were able to manage this condition. It is a known fact that most relationships that did not last were made of emotional people. If both male and female human being in this planet knows how to separate reason from emotion, there will be no jealousy, intrigue, doubt, insecurity and other emotional entanglements. When people are rational, they are able to understand and empathise with other people as well. With that, a lot of costly wars in terms of lives would have been prevented.
Round The Clock Responsibility
Just like their counterparts; the medical doctors, nurses do not see their job as a 9 to 5 responsibility. This is because sickness and health complications, accidents and injuries do not respect time. Thus, a lot of nurses are punching more than 12 hours of work every day just to help patients become healthy, normal, and extend their lives. It is worth emulating as every one of us in this planet has our own roles and shares of responsibilities. We should not limit our good behavior in our offices and in our homes use. Helping other people in our own little way through charity and acts of good deeds should be forever etched in our minds and we should walk the talk.
Over the years, advances in nurse supplies and equipment were quick but the traits and characteristics that nurses should have remains the same. In the same manner, the root cause of the world’s problems is basically man made and was just effects of emotional outbursts. It will definitely help if people can emulate these three characteristics.
